Application scenarios:
The Rotating Grit Chamber Sand Separator is mainly used in rotating grit chambers of urban wastewater treatment plants. Utilizing hydraulic cyclone technology, this equipment effectively separates sand from organic matter, making it an ideal sand removal device.
Structure&Principle:
The vortex grit chamber adopts a circular tank with a conical bottom and is equipped with a paddle separator. Wastewater enters the tank tangentially, flows in a 270° clockwise rotation (when viewed from above), and is discharged through the outlet channel. Utilizing the inflow velocity as the driving force, the water moves tangentially along the inner wall of the circular grit chamber to form a vortex. At the same time, the paddle agitation creates both liquid rotation and axial eddies, which accelerate the settlement of sand particles in the wastewater and effectively separate organic matter from the sand.
The system also takes advantage of the principle that the flow crosssection decreases toward the center, causing the flow velocity to increase. The water velocity near the bottom increases toward the center, moving the settled sand along a spiral path toward the central sand hopper. Organic matter rises in the central part of the tank and is discharged with the effluent. The settled sand at the bottom is lifted by the hoist device and conveyed to the sandwater separator for separation. The separated wastewater is then returned to the grit channel.
Main Features:
1. The sand removal efficiency is minimally affected by fluctuations in water volume. The equipment features a compact structure, convenient operation and maintenance, and a long service life.
2. Two sand lifting methods are available: air lift and pump lift. The air lift method offers relatively better treatment results, while the pump lift method is more cost-effective.
3. High removal efficiency: over 85% for particles larger than 0.2mm.
4. For a treatment capacity Q < 1080 m³/h, the tank body can be made of steel; for Q ≥ 1080 m³/h, a concrete structure is generally adopted.
5. The system utilizes PLC automatic control for the sand washing and discharging cycles, ensuring safe and reliable operation.
6. The equipment is easy to operate and can be controlled either locally or remotely.
